I would like to share a story of my lovely cousin Krissia, a mother looking for a better and brighter future for herself and her 6 year old son Fernando.
Krissia’s journey started in El Salvador. On November 5th 2013, she did the hardest thing any mother could ever do. She had to say goodbye to her son and her family in El Salvador.
As she left El Salvador, she made her way through Guatemala and Mexico, all by foot, car and bus transportation. She finally made it to the USA where she spent 25 days in a small house with approximately 42 other people. Shortly after she made her way to her final destination…. Canada!… in Specific, Guelph Ontario. Here where as a family we are supporting her in every which way to accomplish her goals for her family.
Why the long trip you ask?
To protect herself and her son from the continuous gang problems in El Salvador.
She arrived in Canada on January 21st 2013, has claimed refugee statues and is currently studying English and has taken all steps possible to bring her son safely to Canada. A place to call home and feel safe and with a brighter future ahead of them.
For All the mothers that do everything above and beyond for their children…
Happy Mother’s Day
